Michele Comer,

BA, MA, LPC, NBCC

Michele is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in work with teens and young adults facing anxiety, depression, identity/orientation issues, and relationship challenges. She holds a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and is EMDR certified. Michele integrates neuroscience insights with CBT, Narrative, and Systems Therapy to support lasting growth and healing.

Scott Schmidt, 

MDiv, MAMFT
Resident of Marriage & Family Therapy

Scott is a Marriage and Family Therapist and Pastoral Counselor with over 20 years of experience serving individuals, couples, and families in Virginia and Pennsylvania. A U.S. Army veteran, he holds master’s degrees in Pastoral Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy. Scott specializes in issues including abuse, addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, faith, parenting, and blended family dynamics. He takes a systemic approach, helping each family member take intentional steps toward healing and growth.

Dale Zarlenga, 
MDiv, MA, LPC, NCC

Dale is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and ordained pastor in the PCA, serving individuals and families in the Shenandoah Valley. He holds master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Divinity, with a background in music education and church ministry.

Dale works with issues such as trauma, abuse, addiction, anxiety, depression, pornography, and relational conflict. His Gospel-centered, clinically grounded approach includes trauma-informed care, CBT, narrative, person-centered, and emotionally focused therapies.

Nell Mays,
Resident in Counseling

Nell is a Resident in Counseling with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. Originally from Rockbridge County, she is passionate about creating a supportive space for individuals of all ages to pursue emotional wellness. Nell integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, attachment-based methods, and trauma-informed care to help clients navigate life’s challenges with compassion and clarity.

Amy Harper-Coffey, Resident of Social Work

Amy is a therapist at Tasso Counseling and brings a rich background in social work, education, and advocacy. She holds a Master of Social Work from Texas A&M Commerce and has worked in ministry, schools, domestic violence shelters, and corporate settings. Originally from the Shenandoah Valley, Amy spent many years in Alaska raising her family before returning home. She is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space for clients to process their experiences and move toward healing.

Taylor McNair, 
Chief Operating Officer

Taylor serves as Chief Operating Officer at Tasso Counseling and is often the first point of contact for new clients. With over a decade of administrative experience, she is passionate about creating a welcoming and organized environment. Taylor lives in Waynesboro with her husband and is actively involved at Grace Christian School, where she also coaches varsity girls soccer. Outside of work, she enjoys time with friends and cheering on Alabama football. Roll Tide!

Tasso Counseling is a therapist-owned, outpatient clinic in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in Staunton, Virginia.

 

We are a fee-for-service center and provide both in-person and telehealth sessions to our clients Monday-Thursday. We are a strong faith-based team whose goal is to ensure collaboration, teamwork, and effective communication on a daily basis while delivering  mental health services with excellence through a Christ-centered worldview.

 

We are currently looking for more counselors and staff to join our team!
